Chenille cross-stitch
I love this cross-stitch motif and how it renders so differently depending on the technique I employ. It started long ago on grid paper, then I tried it with XL cross-stitch on cereal cardboard, more recently with fusible beads and now I'm exploring a chenille effect (aided with my Dremel tools). While the design loses some of its details and almost looks like a different one in chenille, I like a lot how the shape subtlety emerges within the velvet texture.
The chenille effect is something that actually occurred from a mistake: cutting some stitches that didn't turn out as expected revealed this soft surface on the perforated cardboard. So I dared and cut off all of the stitches. Lucky mistake!

Me encanta este diseño de punto de cruz y cómo se interpreta de modos tan distintos dependiendo de la técnica que emplee. Empezó hace muchos años sobre papel cuadriculado, luego lo probé en punto de cruz extra-grande sobre cartón de caja de cereales, hace poco lo hice con cuentas plásticas y ahora estoy explorando un efecto chenille (usando mis herramientas Dremel). Si bien el diseño pierde algo de detalle y casi parece como otro motivo en chenille, me gusta mucho cómo la figura se devela de a poco en la textura aterciopelada.
El efecto chenille resultó en realidad por un error: al cortar algunas puntadas que no quedaron como quería, apareció de pronto esta superficie suave en el cartón perforado. Así que me atreví y corté todas las puntadas. Qué gusto cuando los errores terminan bien.
